Nature Forest Therapy

Are you looking for a different way to destress and connect to the natural world around you? Hughes Kraft, a Certified Nature Forest Therapy Guide, is partnering with Pineland Farms to share his knowledge of and love for the spectacular forests of Maine.

Nature Forest Therapy Walks are two hour opportunities to slow down, connect with nature and with oneself. It is not a destination hike, nor is it a nature walk where things are named and described, it is an invitation to explore the relationship between the humans and the more than human world surrounding us. Fiddlehead Forage

This 90 minute adventure will take you on a hike to the banks of the Royal River at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine. Forage for fiddleheads with Retired Maine Game Warden Lt. Adam Gormely. His 35 + years in the Maine woods is sure to offer a knowledgeable and memorable experience. Learn where to find fiddleheads, how to prepare them, and then enjoy them in our favorite recipe when you return home. Morning and afternoon excursions available. Bring comfortable hiking boots and be prepared to hike at least 2 miles through flat and off trail conditions. *This program is subject to nature and our responsibility to sustainably harvest a wild resource. In the event nature doesn’t provide an abundance of fiddleheads on your chosen date we reserve the right to reschedule or cancel. Refunds will be accepted if this occurs.

Women’s Hike Night

Come join us on Wednesday evenings for our weekly Women’s Hike Night! This
weekly event is open to women of all ages and abilities. Meet some new friends or invite friends and family to join the Pineland Farms Outdoor Center staff for a guided 2-3 hour hike along our trail systems. Each week we will set out to explore a new trail system at Pineland Farms, so be ready to hike and explore for a few miles each trip! During this outing you will be learning how to read our trail maps and locate where you are on the trails, how to prep for hiking adventures, proper hiking attire, responsible leave no trace principals, hiking etiquette, wildlife / insect protection, and much more! Hike ending times may vary.

Mushroom Identification Walk

Join North Spore Mushrooms for an informative mushroom walk and learn about cultivation, foraging, and local mushroom species. Add to your knowledge or learn a new skill!

North Spore is based out of Westbrook and specializes in fresh mushroom cultivation as well as producing “mushroom spawn” for home growers and mushroom farms.

These walks are a great time to learn and ask all your mushroom questions!  Baskets or mesh bags and pocket knives are encouraged for collecting.

Be prepared to be outside for the entirety of the program.

Full Moon Hike or Snowshoe Hike

Bring some friends or family and come join us for a full moon hike. We will be hiking from the Pineland Farms Outdoor Center. Enjoy a lit firepit and great views of the Full Moon and the surrounding stars. Bike Night

Come Join us for a family friendly group bike ride! We will be meeting at the Pineland Farms Outdoor Center and will take a 2-hour ride around one of the many Pineland Farms Nordic ski trails. We will be going over how to read our trail maps, safe riding practices, trail etiquette, general bike maintenance, and leave no trace principals. Bring your own bike & helmet or rent one from us.

Summer Garden Series

Located at the Garden on Freeport Rd. across from the main Pineland Farms Campus. Enjoy and relax in the beautiful garden surroundings. Stroll the winding paths or mingle with friends.
