Pickling for Kids

Ages: 6 years old and up – adult paid participation required  

Fee: $10 per person  

Annual Farm Pass holders use discount code at checkout 

Pre-registration Required. 

Description: Learn to make pickles or dilly beans using our refrigerator-pickling method. Best of all, the ingredients will be fresh from our summer gardens and harvested during the program. Each participant will leave with their own jar of pickled goodies and a better understanding of a long-standing food preservation method. Adult pickling programs are also available in our adult program listing! 

Ticket fee includes a self-guided farm pass for all family programs that occur during open farm hours, 9AM-4PM. Your self-guided farm pass must be utilized immediately before or after your program time.

Directions to Education Barn: Follow GPS directions to the Market at 15 Farm View Drive, New Gloucester, Maine. Continue past the Market on Farm View Drive and take your first left onto Valley Farm Rd. Follow Valley Farm Rd. until you see the Smokehouse Visitors Center (white silo) on the right-hand side. Take the right-hand turn immediately after the Smokehouse down to the Family Farmyard. The Education Barn is the largest barn in the farmyard.
